Milky Spore is effective against white grubs (beetle larvae). Milky Spore contains bacteria that infect the grubs. Milky Spore has the consistency of flour. Although Milky Spore costs more initially, it remains viable in the soil for 15 to 20 years, making it very economical. Only one treatment is necessary in most cases. Grubs become infected by swallowing spores. This occurs by happenstance when feeding on grass roots. The more spores in a given area, the greater chance for infection. Each infected grub dies and releases 3 billion new spores into the soil for consumption by other grubs. In warm climates good control can occur in one to three years. In cooler areas, like New England, three to five years are needed for good control.
Milky Spore is harmless to food crops and may be used in gardens, around pools and wells, and the lawn. It does not affect pets, beneficial insects, fish, bees, birds, other animals, plants, or man. It is NOT a poison!
Milky Spore has unlimited shelf life as long as it is stored in a cool dry place. It is not affected by freezing or other adverse environmental conditions.
Milky Spore is applied by putting one teaspoon of product every four square feet.
